Event description:
On Tuesday, April 29, 3:30-5:00pm, in HQ 276, the Lewis Walpole Library is sponsoring a colloquium for graduate students and faculty in History and History of Science and Medicine, featuring Professor Jessica Riskin of Stanford University.

Professor Riskin is sharing a pre-circulated paper from her book in progress on Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, the French biologist and early evolutionary thinker, and we hope to have a spirited discussion about this work and the field more generally.  After the colloquium there will be a wine and cheese reception.

To receive the paper, “The Battle Over Evolution: Early Skirmishes and their Long Tails,” please RSVP to this message by email to me at mark.a.peterson@yale.edu

In addition, the following afternoon, Professor Riskin will be delivering the annual Lewis Walpole Library Lecture: “Professor of Insects and Worms: Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and His Life-Made World,” at 5:30pm, 55 Wall Street Auditorium.  All are welcome.
