An interdisciplinary group of students from history, anthropology, literature, history of art, film studies and American Studies designed and helped teach a new Spring 2018 Yale graduate readings seminar in the environmental humanities.

The course centered on “keywords” shaping the field. Keywords included: Scale, Justice, Narrative, Life, Space, Environment/Nature, Anthropocene, Representation, and Hope. The course also featured visits by Kate Brown, author of Plutopia, and Caitlin DeSilvey, author of Curated Decay. Professor Paul Sabin helped facilitate and offer the course.
The semester’s activities will culminate with the May 3 “Symposium on the Environmental Humanities.”
