Event description:
ecosomatics: toward an ecological fluency of the body
with tayla shanaye and the Performance Studies Working Group at Yale
Monday, September 30, 1:30–2:30pm

What does it mean to regain sensations of faith in the midst of socio-ecological collapse? In this presentation, tayla shanaye reflects on the medicinal possibilities of reclaiming and restoring attention through the embodied sensations of awe found in developing meaningful and committed relationships to the more-than-human world on a nervous system level. The art of being re-storied through developing intimate movements within earthscapes is positioned as one possible antidote to the dis-ease of disconnection.
tayla shanaye MA, PhD (she/they) is a biculturally Black living body engaged in somatic decolonial Black feminist scholarship, education and counseling. tayla has a master’s in somatic counseling psychology and a doctorate in women’s spirituality from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
