The recent preservation-driven removal of the Calder sculpture from the adjacent Hewitt Quadrangle creates an opportunity for discussion around the role of public art in place making, history, and memory. Join playwright Janis Astor del Valle, professor Laura Wexler, and visual artist Jordan Weber in a lunchtime conversation looking at their work and current projects that actively engage and confront monuments of today and of tomorrow.
Sessions are peer-led gatherings (12+ people) where conversations generate collaborations and move ideas to action. Each group of Sessionists includes Yale students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional), faculty, staff, and New Haven residents. Registration is required.
