Event description:

Yale Environmental Humanities will welcome back students, faculty and other affiliates with a panel discussion centered on the concept of “landscape.”  The panel will kick off a thematic year of activities and programming, centered around this same theme. In this thematic year, we will host a variety of events, featuring scholars, artists, and thinkers at Yale and at other universities to probe the idea and the reality of landscape as it is used by artists, writers, theorists, even politicians to tell us something—and, importantly, to make us believe something—about our lives and ourselves. At the panel, Yale faculty members  will present briefly on their work, as it relates to land, waters, and other built or natural environments, and human interactions with them.

Faculty panelists include:

Jonathan Howard (English, African American Studies)
Jill Jarvis (French)
Gerald Torres (YSE, Law)
Jane Tylus (Italian, Comparative Literature)

This event will take place in-person, in the courtyard of the Humanities Quadrangle. An outdoor reception will follow the panel.

The event will be held outdoors under the event tent in the HQ Courtyard. Due to COVID restrictions, we are limiting in-person attendance to 50 people from the Yale Community. Once we have reached this limit, we will close the in-person option on this form, and we ask that you tune into the live stream.
