Event time:
Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 3:30pm
Location:
Yale University Art Gallery (1111 Chapel Street) See map
Event description:

YSE students are invited to join Food and Ag SIG for an interdisciplinary exploration of how agriculture and development are represented through art—and how those representations shape our understanding, professional practice, and policy priorities.

This interactive event invites participants to step outside their daily academic and professional frameworks to see these issues through a new lens. We’ll begin with a curator-led tour at the Yale University Art Gallery, focusing on artworks that depict agriculture, land, labor, and development. The tour will serve as a catalyst for fresh thinking, offering visual entry points into complex questions around representation, power, and practice.

Following the tour, we’ll hold a group discussion aimed at unpacking how representations and narratives influence our understanding of agriculture and development work. This event is designed to provoke new questions, challenge assumptions, and inspire more reflective and expansive ways of engaging with global development and agricultural systems.
