Panelists:
Emilie Connolly, Assistant Professor of History. Connolly is a historian of Indigenous North America, the history of capitalism, and the nineteenth-century United States. Her first book, Vested Interests: Trusteeship and Native Dispossession in the United States, explains how and why the federal government came to act as a fiduciary to Native nations, investing funds on their behalf and retaining ultimate control over their financial wealth.
Amity Doolittle, Senior Lecturer and Research Scientist, School of the Environment. Doolittle’s research focuses on property rights and how control over and access to natural resources is defined, negotiated, and contested by different stakeholders. She is interested in understanding the social and political processes that result in centuries of social inequities and unequal distribution of the benefits and burdens of natural resources.
Kat Caribeaux, Franke Visiting Fellow, Whitney Humanities Center. Caribeaux is a researcher, writer, and generalist maker whose academic work concerns the confluences of environmental justice, arts advocacy, and placemaking. She earned her PhD in Art History from Northwestern University, where her dissertation took up the material histories of taxidermy dioramas to better understand today’s Anthropocene visuality.
