Timothy Pachirat is a professor of political science at UMass Amherst and author of Every Twelve Seconds, for which he was employed undercover for five months in a Great Plains slaughterhouse where 2,500 cattle were killed per day—one every twelve seconds. Co-sponsored by the Yale Sustainable Food Program, Pierson College, the Traphagen Alumni Speaker Series Fund, the Animal Law Speaker Series, and the Franke Program in Science and the Humanities.
