Speaking from his experience as one of the leading African Catholic environmentalists active today, CYNESA founder Allen Ottaro will discuss how young Catholics around the world can effectively advocate for a just stewardship of Creation through the lens of Catholic social teaching and sacred tradition.
 
About Allen Ottaro, CYNESA, Laudato Si’ Movement
 
Allen Ottaro is the Founder and Executive Director of the Catholic Youth Network for Environmental Sustainability in Africa (CYNESA). Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the organization currently has chapters in ten African countries. Allen is also a founding member of the Global Membership Council of the Laudato Si’ Movement. Since 2015, he has served as a member of the climate change working group of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM). Allen is passionate about engaging young people and faith communities on the global stage to promote environmental
sustainability through a strong social justice perspective. Born in Nairobi, he grew up in the small rift valley town of Njoro. During his leisure time he likes to watch soccer and is an ardent fan of the Arsenal soccer team.
