The Yale Divinity School seeks to put its eco-theology principles into practice when it breaks ground in October on its new Living Village project. The 2-year construction project is the university’s most ambitious environmental building yet, part of the Living Village Challenge, a rigorous sustainability certification with energy, waste management, and urban ecology goals that exceed current LEED Platinum building standards. Once completed, the new residential building will offer affordable housing for the school’s students while leading current architectural standards with its net positive, on-site energy production, recycled and toxin-free building materials, and water reuse systems.
