Event description:

Join us for our final breakfast conversation of the spring semester, entitled “Postcolonial Collecting at the Peabody,” with Casey Dunn, Professor of Ecology and Environmental Biology at Yale and Curator of Invertebrate Zoology at the Peabody Museum of Natural History. Dunn will speak briefly about his work at the Peabody, asking questions about what it would look like to collect specimens and artifacts in a decolonized natural history museum setting.

Casey’s lab in the Yale Department of Ecology and Environmental Biology studies how evolution has produced a diversity of life. Casey and his lab members are interested in learning about the actual history of life on Earth as well as the general properties of evolution that have contributed to these historical patterns. The type of questions they ask require field (marine), laboratory, and computational work. Their research falls into several domains.

Find out more about Casey Dunn’s lab here.

Coffee and pastries available at 8:00am. Conversation begins at 8:30am.
